Ralph Siebert is a Professor of Economics at the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University. He is also Director of the Master’s Economics program at Purdue and a Research Fellow at CESifo in Munich, Germany. Since 2013, Professor Siebert also teaches MBA classes at the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business.

Professor Siebert works in the areas of industrial organization, applied microeconometrics, urban economics, health economics, and experimental economics. Most of his research is grounded in the interface between applied theory and empirical testing, i.e., structural modeling, while other studies relate to estimating reduced-form regressions. The large majority of his empirical work builds on theory that provides insights into counterfactuals, as well as underlying effects that drive the results. He received his B.A. in Business and Economics from Free University (Berlin) and a M.A and Ph.D in Economics from Humboldt University (Berlin). He was an Adjunct Research Fellow at Harvard and Yale University, CESifo, European School of Management and Technology, GISMA, MLU Munich, Social Science Research Center (WZB) in Berlin, University of Barcelona, and University of Toronto.

Professor Siebert’s research has been published in top economics journals including Economic Journal, International Journal of Industrial Organization, Journal of Competition Law & Economics, Journal of Economics and Management Strategy, Management Science, Review of Economics and Statistics,Research Policy, Southern Economic Journal, and The B.E. Journal of Economic Analysis & Policy. He has also provided refereeing service for a number academic scholarly journals such as, American Economic Review, Journal of Political Economy, International Journal of Industrial Organization, Journal of Industrial Economics, Rand Journal of Economics, among others.

Professor Siebert has taught courses at the doctoral and master’s level which include Empirical Industrial Organization, Industrial Organization, Econometrics, Game Theory, Applied Game Theory, Microeconomic Theory, Managerial Economics, and Managerial Decision Making, Economic and Social Policy, and International/Global Business Management.

Professor Siebert has received numerous teaching distinctions from 2005 onwards. He also received several research awards. In 2011, Professor Siebert received the Young Scholar Award from Purdue University (Krannert School of Management). He won the European Young Economist Award in two consecutive years (2000 and 2001).
