Dan Ackerberg is the Addison Baker Duncan Centennial Professor of Economics at the University of Texas, Austin. Prior to accepting his current role, Professor Ackerberg held the position of Kempt Professor of Economics at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (2010 to 2017) where he taught industrial organization, business economics, and applied econometrics. In the interim, he served as Visitor for the Cowles Foundation in Structural Microeconomics Program at Yale University from 2016 to 2017. Before coming to Michigan, Professor Ackerberg was a tenured associate professor at the University of California, Los Angeles as well as the University of Arizona. He received a B.A. in Economics from Carleton College in 1991 and a M.A. (1994) and Ph.D. (1997) in Economics from Yale

Professor Ackerberg has published articles implementing economic principles, economic models, and econometric methods to study consumer behavior, firm conduct, and market outcomes in peer-reviewed academic journals. He has also served on editorial boards for a number of academic publications, including The Econometrics JournalThe RAND Journal of Economics, and the International Journal of Industrial Organization.
