Edward D. Rothman is Professor Emeritus of Statistics at the University of Michigan. Professor Rothman taught statistics for 47 years and also served as adjunct faculty in the Department of Economics at the University of Michigan. Professor Rothman received his undergraduate degree from McGill University with first class honors in mathematics. He received his doctorate at Johns Hopkins in statistics with a minor in economics. Professor Rothman also served as chair of the Department of Statistics from 1983 through 1989. He was the director of the Center for Statistical Consultation and Research (CSCAR)—a resource providing guidance and training for data management, collection, and analysis to University of Michigan researchers—for over 20 years. He also served as the chair of the faculty senate, SACUA.
Professor Rothman has been engaged in litigation support involving statistical matters primarily related to employment discrimination, product reliability, general litigation, and issues related to the Clean Air Act for many years. He has always been accepted as an expert witness in both Federal and State Courts. Professor Rothman also has extensive consulting experience in quality improvement, with a specialization in health care organizations.
