Regulatory Economics

applEcon has undertaken economic analysis of various regulatory rules (actual or proposed) for clients interested in influencing regulatory proceedings.

applEcon has submitted economic analyses on behalf of clients to regulators at the federal, state, and county level.  Often, our work has straddled the realms of antitrust and regulation, as it did in a white paper submitted to a state public services commission that described harm to competition from a major telecommunications merger, and proposed actions to remedy those harms.  Our team has a deep background in telecommunications regulation, but we have also worked on regulatory issues related to gasoline, the Internet, and taxicabs.
